四川理工学院的老师谭贤军是这批老挝留学生的现任班主任。据他介绍，这批老挝留学生共29名，在当地高中毕业后，通过老挝琅南塔省教育厅推荐，于2015——2016学年第一学期进入该校学习。此外还有尼泊尔、孟加拉、塞拉利昂、法国、印度的留学生，一共35名。
谈起这29名老挝留学生，谭贤军满眼笑意，他告诉记者，孩子们来校后，很快融入了学校的生活和学习。当天是老挝传统的新年，他和学校其他老师一起带着孩子们去超市买食材、买相关物品，和他们一起过泼水节。
记者看到，宿舍楼下的小树林，挂着五彩的气球，草地上有一个大大的充气水池，里面装满了气球，旁边的小桶里装着啤酒、饮料，同学们拿着水枪相互嬉戏；音响里放着老挝当地的流行歌曲，兴致高涨的男孩子还拿起话筒，一展歌喉；女孩子们精心打扮了一番，拿出准备好的食材，在一旁做吃的……俨然就是一个盛大的party。老师、同学、宿管员，包括记者，见者有份，谁都逃不过被水“湿身”，狠点的，直接被扔到水池里，真是无湿不嗨！热情的老挝同学还端上自己动手做的意大利面、炸土豆、当地美食和啤酒，邀请大家一起进入欢乐模式。不仅他们自己在异国他乡欢度了自己的节日，还让周围的人一起感受到了异域文化的魅力。

学习：
少不了老师同学的帮助
今年21岁的习腾（中文名），读大一，有一些腼腆。中文还不错的他告诉记者，他将在这里学习四年。他和另一名老挝同学沙克（中文名）来中国留学之前，在当地学习过中文，其他的同学，则是来自贡后才学习的中文。
平时课堂上，老师讲课，简单一些的中文习腾都能听懂、看懂，但复杂一些的还是有困难。“好在有老师和同学们帮助，不懂的也可以查字典。”正当记者惊讶他会使用中文字典时，习腾摸出手机，打开了电子词典，“就是这个，嘿嘿。”
谭贤军告诉记者，学校专门为他们安排有负责教授中文的老师，还与学校人文学院结成一对一的对子。因为除了专业的课程外，中文也是他们很重要的学习内容。特别是他们在中国留学期间，必须通过HSK考试（汉语水平考试），至少得过四级，这样，他们留学结束回国后才能更加顺利地找到工作。为此，老师们还在网上帮他们买教材，帮助他们学习。
生活：
感受冷冬和中国年
习腾告诉记者，这是他们来自贡学习的第二个学期了，大家已在这里度过了一个寒假，在这期间的故事也非常精彩。
因为老挝的气候只有旱季和雨季，全年天气偏热，最低温度在15℃。所以，对于老挝同学而言，没有冬天这个概念。但去年冬天，让他们体验了一回什么叫“冷”。特别是自贡的那一场雪，让从小在老挝长大的他们第一次看到了雪，玩了雪。有个同学因为生活习惯使然，大冬天的也不愿穿厚鞋子、厚袜子、戴手套，脚、手长了冻疮，老师带着这位同学去医院看病抹药，还带习腾他们一道去买防寒的衣物，留学生们才逐渐意识到“冷”这个字的含义。记者问他，第一次穿羽绒服什么感觉，习腾说：“暖和。”
同时，留学生们也在自贡度过了中国的春节。那天，学校组织了联欢会，给他们发放慰问金，老师带他们“下馆子”吃了年夜饭，让他们体会了中国年的浓浓氛围。
平时的生活，留学生们也安排得有声有色，和同学一块踢足球，参观恐龙博物馆、盐业历史博物馆，看灯会、游花海、看电影……对于自贡美食，习腾的感觉是“辣可以接受，但太油了”。
尽管提到在自贡的生活感受，习腾和他的同学们都说“好玩”、“很好”，但被问及想家吗？习腾和他的同学们还是红了眼眶，但很快便又笑意满满：“今年暑假，假期长，我们就回一趟家看看。”

简单方式表达深深祝福
在泼水节中，有一个比较传统的方式——用盆装满清水，再用树枝沾着水轻轻洒在别人身上。首先向德高或年长者身上轻轻洒去，再请长者回洒在自己身上，再互相帮助向自己想要祝福的人身上洒去。以示新的一年，给对方最真诚和美好的祝愿。
当天，老挝的同学们将老师拉坐在椅子上，自己蹲下围在老师身边，请老师双手朝上，再用小树枝沾水轻轻洒在老师手上，嘴里用老挝语说着祝福的话。随后，他们又请老师用小树枝沾水轻洒在自己头上……用这种简单却富有仪式感的方式，表达了对老师关心照顾自己学习生活的感谢，以及深深的祝福。
